This simple bon-in turkey breast roast yields tender, flavorful meat! Pre-marinate the breast for best results!
INGREDIENT
– 1 (4.5 to 5.5-pound) bone-in turkey breast– 1/2 cup avocado oil or olive oil– 1/3 cup soy sauce or liquid amino– 1 Tbsp Italian seasoning– 5 cloves garlic minced– ½ tsp black pepper to taste
INSTRUCTIONS
Unpack the turkey breast and place it on a large plate or cutting board. Take off excess liquid with paper towels. Bag the turkey breast bone in a 2.5-gallon ziplock.
Step 1
In a small bowl, mix avocado oil (or olive oil), soy sauce (or liquid aminos), Italian seasoning, and fresh minced garlic. My Nutribullet or Magic Bullet blends the marinade.
Step 2
Place turkey breast in large zip lock bag with marinade. Seal and refrigerate overnight or 2 hours.
Step 3
To keep the turkey skin away from the top heating element, preheat the oven to 325 degrees F and place a rack on the second-from-bottom shelf Before adding the wire rack.
Step 4
Remove turkey breast from zip lock bag and place on roasting rack. Any marinade can go in the roasting pan bottom.
Step 5
Turkey breasts take 15–25 minutes per pound to reach 165°F. After 60 minutes, foil the turkey breast and bake for the remaining time. Roasting a 5.25-pound roast took 2 hours 15 minutes.
Step 6
Since I transferred it from the fridge to the roasting pan without bringing it to room temperature, it took 25 minutes per pound.
Step 7
Insert an instant-read thermometer into the thickest part of the breast and wait for the numbers to stop moving for an accurate reading. Serve the turkey breast after 15–20 minutes of rest.
