Anise Cookies Recipe

Italian Anise Cookies are flavored with licorice-flavored anise essence. These desserts go well with coffee or tea.

– 3 ½ cups all purpose flour (440 grams) – 1 tablespoon baking powder – ½ teaspoon kosher salt – 1 cup granulated sugar – ¾ cups unsalted butter, softened (one and a half sticks) – 3 large egg – 2 teaspoons anise extract Icing – 2 cups powdered sugar (240 grams) – 3 tablespoons milk – 2 tablespoons sprinkle

Warm the oven up to 350 degrees. Put parchment paper on a baking sheet and set it aside.

Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a medium-sized bowl using a whisk.

Hand-mix butter and sugar in a large bowl. It should take two minutes. Stir in anise flavor and eggs. Mix wet and dry ingredients to make dough.

Cookie spoon dough into 1-inch balls. Lay the cookies out on the baking sheet with 2 inches between them. Twelve cookies should fit on the baking sheet.

Put it in the oven for 10–12 minutes to brown the edges. Limit baking time. Cool cookies on a wire rack.

Whisk powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Ice each cookie and let the excess run off. Sprinkle on top. Allow frosting to set for 10 minutes before serving.
