Double Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

These gorgeous double chocolate crinkle cookies are a great option if you're looking for delicious holiday cookies to give to guests or exchange at parties. 

– ¼ cup butter  – 2 teaspoon vanilla extract – ½ cup white sugar – ¼ cup brown sugar – ¼ cup cocoa powder  – 8 oz dark chocolate  – 2 eggs  – ¾ cup + 2 tablespoon flour – ½ teaspoon baking soda  – ½ teaspoon baking powder  – 1 cup powdered sugar for dipping  – ½ cup cream cheese  – ½ teaspoon salt

Heat butter and chocolate in a double boiler or microwave. Cool the melted butter and chocolate before continuing.

Beat eggs and sugars just for 4 minutes in a large bowl. Add vanilla to melted chocolate bowl gradually. In another bowl, mix dry ingredients.

Mix until ingredients are almost combined for a smooth, sticky brownie batter. It may take an hour to form balls, so wrap dough in plastic and refrigerate.

When the melted chocolate cools and sets, the batter should become "playdough" and easier to handle. Turn on the oven to 325 F.

Roll 2-inch dough balls from 2 tablespoons. Dip in sugar. Place cookie balls 3 inches apart on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Do not press. Baking until crackly takes 10-12 minutes. Centres of cookies will be soft and moist. Almost brownie-like.

Move the cookies to a wire rack after 5-10 minutes in the pan. Serve cookies cooled.
